Oregon clay teapot
Oregon clay teapot
This teapot was made with mostly clay that I foraged for in Oregon. It has a very rich tone with hues of red and purple due to its high percentage of iron.
It was fired in the back of the Pleasant Hill Pottery anagama kiln for 108 hours. It got a nice dose of wood ash which settled in green on the pot.
This is a perfect size pot for two people. It will make 2 cups of tea whenever you need!
It has a built in strainer so that it functions perfectly with loose leaf tea.
Serious tea people I have talked with value teapots with iron rich clay for the extra minerality it can bring to the brew. I don’t know how much of a difference this really makes but it certainly is nice for me to know it was made with local clay.
I do not glaze the insides of my teapots because they build up a natural patina over time and use. The unglazed surface takes on tannins from tea and can give back some flavour over time… tea will taste better in the teapot the more you use it! Just like a well seasoned cast iron pan.

I ship with USPS and UPS and send tracking information after sending each order.
I ship internationally; it’s no problem, but it may require a little extra postage. It’s hard to estimate as it changes from country to country. For international orders, I will contact you if there is a discrepancy between what you pay and the actual cost.
