Utah tea bowl
Utah tea bowl
This teabowl was made at Utah State University. It was fired in the double wide train kiln for 5 days. We fired in the height of summer which was inadvisable. We had to take 3 hour shifts during the daytime when we would normally have taken 6 hour shifts because it was so hot.
We cooled the kiln in reduction and got some lovely surfaces. It feels really natural, like a stone, or a patch of lichen. It went in as just an unglazed, bare clay bowl and came out like this. We used mostly cottonwood which produces dark grey ash like this when reduction cooled.
This is one of the only pots I have left from that firing. I held onto it for a while but now am okay letting it go.

My pots are microwave, dishwasher and oven safe. I high fire them until they’re vitrified, around 2350°F.
If a pot you like is sold out, email me and I can make you a similar one! I also take commissions of all sorts; please email me if you have an idea.
I ship with USPS and UPS and send tracking information after sending each order.
I ship internationally; it’s no problem, but it may require a little extra postage. It’s hard to estimate as it changes from country to country. For international orders, I will contact you if there is a discrepancy between what you pay and the actual cost.
