Medium whisky jug or cider jar 2
Medium whisky jug or cider jar 2
I love cider jars. I had the opportunity to see and handle some made by Michael Cardew and Ray Finch whilst I was a trainee potter at Winchcombe Pottery in the Cotswolds. Seminal moments!
I grew fonder still whilst working in North Carolina and seeing all the old whisky jugs in collections there. These forms just cry out to be salt fired, so that’s what I did!
This pot came out of Pepino, the wood salt kiln at Pleasant Hill Pottery in Oregon. It was on the top shelf of the kiln and received a drip from the ceiling. A kiln gift! You see this on some old salt-glazed pots in museums. Some would call it a second, but I think it adds to the pot.

My pots are microwave, dishwasher and oven safe. I make them with stoneware clay and fire until they’re vitrified, around 2350°F.
If a pot you like is sold out, just email me and I can make you a similar one! I also take commissions of all sorts; please email me if you have an idea.
I ship with USPS and UPS and send tracking information after sending each order.
I ship internationally; it’s no problem, but it may require a little extra postage. It’s hard to estimate as it changes from country to country. For these international orders, I will contact you if there is a discrepancy between what you pay and the actual cost.
